Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ending terrorism in the country, revealing that the Federal Government has ordered advanced weapons to strengthen military operations.
Shettima made this known on Wednesday during a visit to victims of recent attacks at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Borno State. He assured Nigerians that those behind the violence would be decisively dealt with, stressing that the government’s response would combine both military force and improved logistics.

He noted that beyond existing directives to security agencies, the administration is stepping up efforts to modernise the country’s counter-terrorism strategy through the acquisition of sophisticated equipment and better operational support for troops.
The Vice President also condemned the recent explosions in Maiduguri, which claimed over 20 lives and left more than 100 people injured, describing the attacks as barbaric and unjustifiable.
During his visit to the hospital, Shettima expressed sympathy to the victims and their families, promising that the government would provide necessary support. He said agencies such as the National Emergency Management Agency and the North East Development Commission, in collaboration with the Borno State Government, would ensure proper care and assistance for those affected.
He was accompanied by top officials, including Borno State Deputy Governor Usman Kadafur and other key government representatives, as part of efforts to assess the situation and coordinate ongoing support for victims.
