The Lagos State Police Command has observed attempts by certain groups to organise protests within the State purportedly in reaction to ongoing foreign geopolitical tensions.
The Command wishes to make it categorically clear that no application for such protest was formally submitted, and no approval was granted.
Consequently, any gathering, procession or demonstration conducted under these circumstances is unlawful.

Lagos remains Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre. Any disruption of public order—especially in a period of heightened global tension—poses serious risks not only to residents but to national economic stability.
The Command will not permit the State to be used as a theatre for external conflicts in which Nigeria is not a participant.
Citizens are reminded that while the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, such rights are subject to lawful procedures and reasonable restrictions in the interest of public safety and order.
Unauthorised street processions, road blockades or assemblies that obstruct traffic and daily activities constitute violations of public order laws.

Experience has shown that unsanctioned protests carry a high risk of infiltration by miscreants and hoodlums who exploit such gatherings to loot, vandalise property or attack innocent citizens.
The Command will not allow any situation that could escalate into chaos, violence or breakdown of law and order.

Parents and guardians are advised to caution their wards against being incited or mobilised into activities capable of attracting legal consequences. Organisers and sponsors of any unlawful protest will be identified, investigated and held accountable in accordance with the law.

The Lagos State Police Command therefore strongly warns all individuals and groups to desist from any attempt to stage unlawful demonstrations or exploit foreign tensions to disturb the peace of the State. Residents are urged to go about their lawful businesses without fear.

Adequate security deployments have been activated across strategic locations to ensure safety of lives and property. The Command remains committed to professionalism, restraint and lawful enforcement in maintaining peace.
Lagos will remain safe, stable and secure.
