Superstar Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reportedly been linked to a $17,000 (about ₦23 million) gift sent to embattled Nigerian socialite Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, widely known as Hushpuppi, while he is serving time in a United States prison.

Hushpuppi was sentenced in November 2022 to 11 years and three months in a US federal prison after pleading guilty to charges connected to money laundering linked to international online fraud schemes. He was sentenced by a federal judge in Los Angeles, California.

Recent online reports claim that a Nigerian blog shared screenshots suggesting Davido sent the money via Snapchat, where Hushpuppi allegedly uses the display name “Someone Important.”

The circulating posts also show what appears to be a FaceTime call between both personalities, with Hushpuppi reportedly expressing appreciation and referring to Davido in affectionate terms.

The claims have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with users debating the authenticity of the exchange and expressing differing opinions about the situation.
