Niger Republic has issued a nationwide mobilisation decree following Thursday night’s joint Nigeria–United States airstrikes on terrorist camps in Sokoto State.

Less than 24 hours after the strikes, Niger’s Council of Ministers met in Niamey under the chairmanship of General Abdurahamane Tiani and adopted a draft ordinance mandating general mobilisation in defence of the country.
Tangaza Local Government Area, the main target of the missile strikes, lies along the Nigeria–Niger border. Nigerian and U.S. officials have confirmed that counterterrorism operations in northern Nigeria are ongoing.

Under the ordinance, Nigerien citizens are required to respond immediately to call-ups, comply with requisitions, report hostile foreign nationals or suspicious activities, and refrain from communications capable of undermining mobilisation efforts.
The decree is based on Niger’s Charter of Refoundation and existing national defence laws, aimed at protecting territorial integrity, sovereignty, the population, and vital state interests amid what authorities describe as rising security threats.
