Anambra Governor Willie Obiano says he’ll make former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Charles Soludo his successor.
Obiano disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking at the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri on arrival from his three-week vacation abroad.
The governor, who landed in a private jet at about 11.45am, was received by Anambra lawmakers led by Speaker Uche Okafor.
Obiano, while addressing the crowd that came to welcome him, vowed that Soludo would be the next governor of the state.
The governor travelled out of the state immediately after the primary conducted by the All Progressives Grand Alliance at the Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka.
The primary produced Soludo as candidate, throwing the party in crisis with two candidates produced for the November 6 election.
Independent National Electoral Commission has, however, refused to recognise Soludo as the candidate.
INEC has published Chukwuma Umeoji as the candidate based on the judgement of s Jigawa State High Court.
But Obiano described the omission of Soludo’s name on the INEC list as a ‘mistake’, which he assured the people would be corrected soon.
He said, “Prof. Soludo is the next governor of Anambra State as issues about APGA crisis will be a thing of the past soon”.
He also assured of delivery of the Anambra International Airport in record time.
“I feel fulfilled to have a test of my legacy project- the airport this day,” he said.
