His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto Alh Muhammad Saad Abubakar is today celebrating his 66th Birthday. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar were amongst those who wished the Sultan of Sokoto Allah’s blessings and peaceful reign.
The Jagaban of Borgu prayed for the Sultan of Sokoto in order for Allah to grant him a long life, good health, wisdom as was given to Suleiman, Courage to ensure a peaceful reign over Nigerians as brothers & sisters in one Country. He commended the Sultan’s effort to enshrine religious tolerance and collaboration with other faith organisations for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.
Atiku Abubakar in his message wished the Sultan of Sokoto well and prayed for wisdom for his spiritual leadership for Muslims while fostering inter-faith dialogue.
The Nigerian National Patriots sent goodwill birthday greetings to His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto commending his outstanding performance as a true Nigerian Patriot as witnessed in several challenging situations in the recent past. The National Patriots prayed that Allah The Most Gracious should grant the Sultan the temerity, wisdom, courage and presence of mind to lead the Muslim faithfuls to understand and appreciate the complexity and diversity of Nigeria and Nigerians in order to co- exist in peace, unity of purpose for the progress of the country as one family! Amen.
The National Patriots, an NGO promoting the spirit of Patriotism amongst Nigerians and the gravitation towards meritocracy by the government intends to endorse one Presidential Candidate soon who it considers would advance democracy, Patriotism and Meritocracy in Nigeria taking the Country to a positive trajectory for sustainable development and addressing all sensibilities, sensitivities and grievances of Nigerians through governance with best practices. There is a criteria for this endorsement and all candidates would be screened by a selected panel of competent Nigerians based on capacity, track record and capabilities. Religious sentiments will not be considered in this project as politics and religion have different objectives and parameters.
The National Patriots uplolds the freedom of worship of all Nigerians and recognises the Sultan of Sokoto as the spiritual leader for Muslims and the President of CAN as the spiritual leader of the Christians.
Nobody has challenged the CAN why it has never elected a Northern Christian as President since inception, as its a religious organisation and not a political organisation, so it is unpatriotic to play a religious card and whip up sentiments to the detriment of political sagacity and competence for governance. As Patriots, all Nigerians ought to work towards moving the country forward in this global recession rather than using religious sentiments and politics of bitterness to heat up the polity unnecessarily for self aggrandisement.
The National Patriots is hereby warning politicians to desist from campaign of calumny and focus on issue based campaigns with verifiable facts and statistics.
It is unfortunate that the country will need considerable time to heal after 2023 as the Candidates mudslinging and denigration of other candidates has caused a wide gulf amongst Nigerians which only time, damage control and appropriate steps would address.
