SUPER FALCONS HANDED TOUGH GROUP FOR 2026 WAFCON

Defending champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been drawn into a challenging Group C for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they will face Zambia, Egypt and Malawi.

The expanded 16-team tournament will be held in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, with games spread across cities including Casablanca, Rabat and Fes. Nigeria will play all their group matches at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

The Falcons will open their campaign against Zambia’s Copper Queens, renewing a growing rivalry between both sides following Nigeria’s emphatic 5–0 quarter-final victory over Zambia at the last edition of the tournament.

Nigeria will also take on Egypt, a familiar opponent in African women’s football, and Malawi, who will be making their WAFCON finals debut after securing a historic qualification.

In other group pairings, hosts Morocco headline Group A alongside Algeria, Senegal and Kenya. Group B features former champions South Africa, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Tanzania, while Group D includes Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde.

Beyond continental glory, the tournament carries global significance as it also serves as a qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the top four teams securing automatic tickets to the global stage.
