A combined team of police officers and local vigilantes killed a suspected bandit in a gun battle at Adekanbi village, near Bode-Saadu in Kwara State’s Moro Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, followed intelligence reports that a gang of bandits had taken refuge on a fortified hilltop in the area.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, explained that the bandits fired at security personnel, prompting a decisive counter-attack that left one suspect neutralised.
During a post-operation sweep, the security team recovered one AK-49 rifle and 32 rounds of live ammunition, she said.
Ejire-Adeyemi added that the action aligns with the strategic directives of CP Adekimi Ojo and the national security framework set by IGP Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at strengthening rapid-response capabilities and protecting communities from armed criminals.

“The operation highlights our commitment to maintaining public safety and demonstrates the enhanced operational readiness of the command,” she said, assuring residents that security forces will continue offensive measures in identified hotspots.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, police neutralised one suspected bandit and arrested three others following attacks on residents in Botoro Gadi and Kwari communities. CSP Nafiu Abubakar said eight armed men had stormed a residence in Botoro Gadi, abducting two individuals, Muhafi Sani and Shamsiya Aliyu, during the assault.
