SUSPECTED BANDITS ABDUCT ECWA BOARD CHAIRMAN IN PLATEAU

Suspected bandits have reportedly abducted a senior cleric of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and Chairman of its Board of Trustees in Plateau State.

The incident was confirmed by a source at the church’s headquarters, while a message shared on ECWA’s official WhatsApp platform also alerted members and urged them to pray for his safe return.

“We are deeply saddened to inform you that Rev. Prof. Sunday B. Agang, Chairman, ECWA Board of Trustees and former Provost of Jos ECWA Theological Seminary, was reportedly taken in the early hours of today,” the message read.

The church called on believers and well-meaning individuals to pray for his protection and immediate release, expressing faith that he would return unharmed.

The abduction comes just two days after eight ECWA members were kidnapped during a church service in Kwara State. Gunmen reportedly stormed the service, firing shots to disperse worshippers before taking victims away. Three of those abducted later managed to escape.

Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, confirmed the earlier attack and assured that security agencies, alongside local vigilantes, had been mobilised to track down the perpetrators and rescue the victims.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over the safety of religious institutions, as communities continue to grapple with rising cases of abduction across parts of the country.
