Suspects in Rivers LG Administrator’s Assault now in Custody — Police

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that two individuals previously declared wanted in connection with a violent attack on a public official have turned themselves in and are now in custody.

The suspects, identified as Hector Ekakita, Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Council, and Aloni Olodi, Chief of Staff (COS), were declared wanted after a viral video showed a mob of about 30 machete-wielding men assaulting the council’s administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor. The attackers allegedly forced Iheanachor to resign from office during the incident.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that both Ekakita and Olodi voluntarily reported to the state police headquarters on July 10 to assist with the ongoing investigation.

They are alleged to be the masterminds behind the assault, conspiracy, and theft related to the incident,” she said. “Upon arrival, they were interviewed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, and his management team.”

Following the initial interrogation, the suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) for further investigation under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Iringe-Koko urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward, assuring them of confidentiality and protection. She emphasized that public cooperation is crucial to ensuring justice is served.

“We assure the public that the investigation will be thorough, fair, and transparent,” she added.
