Taraba State Governor, Kefas, to join APC on Wednesday

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has confirmed that he will join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19. He disclosed the decision while speaking with journalists on Saturday, stating that the move is tied to what he described as “the destiny of Taraba people.”

Kefas said the official declaration would attract many visitors, noting that the political shift represents a major realignment within the state. He emphasized that his transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC is part of a broader movement aimed at repositioning Taraba.

His defection adds to the growing list of PDP governors who have moved to the APC in 2025, including Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa.

Kefas was elected governor in 2023 with 257,926 votes, defeating Muhammad Yahaya of the NNPP and Emmanuel Bwacha of the APC. Taraba State has been governed by PDP members since 1999, making his departure from the party a significant political shift.
