The Senate on Wednesday resolved ongoing concerns surrounding the Tax Reform Acts, firmly stating that none of the four laws was tampered with at any stage.
Speaking during plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio assured lawmakers that the versions of the Acts currently held by the National Assembly are identical to those passed by both chambers and later assented to by President Bola Tinubu.
He recalled that the tax reform bills were approved as separate legislations by the Senate in May last year, with the House of Representatives concurring shortly after. The President subsequently signed the bills into law in June.

Akpabio dismissed suggestions that changes were made after legislative approval, emphasizing that certified true copies in the possession of both the Senate and the House faithfully reflect the content endorsed by lawmakers.
To promote openness and confidence, the Senate President instructed the Clerk of the Senate, Emmanuel Odo, to circulate certified copies of the Acts to all senators for review.
According to Akpabio, the documents fully align with what was debated and passed by the two chambers, urging senators to disregard any contrary claims, as they do not represent what the President signed into law.

President Tinubu signed the four Tax Reform Bills into law on June 26, 2025. The laws include the Nigeria Tax Act (NTA), the Nigeria Tax Administration Act (NTAA), the Nigeria Revenue Service Act (NRSA), and the Joint Revenue Board Act (JRBA).
The new laws are designed to modernize Nigeria’s tax framework, enhance revenue mobilisation, stimulate economic development, improve the ease of doing business, and strengthen tax administration at the federal, state, and local government levels.
