Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, described the commissioning as a major milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s power transmission network. She said the upgrade is expected to improve bulk power supply to the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC), benefiting customers in Ikorodu, Shagamu, Ijede, and surrounding areas.

Adeshina Adeonipekun, General Manager of Transmission for the Lagos Region, noted that TCN engineers completed the installation in-house within six weeks, demonstrating technical competence and commitment to reliable power infrastructure.

The project aligns with TCN’s mandate to modernise the national grid, enhance stable electricity transmission, and address capacity constraints. Stakeholders have expressed optimism that the upgrade will reduce outages and improve service delivery for electricity consumers in Lagos.
