Tension erupted on Friday in Abuja as journalists scrambled for accreditation ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention.
The incident occurred at the Kano Hall of Transcorp Hilton, where over 100 journalists—both accredited and non-accredited—gathered in a rush to secure access tags for covering the event.
Trouble started when the official in charge of accreditation announced that only a limited number of tags were available. According to the coordinator, most of the tags meant for APC correspondents had already been distributed, leaving just a few for others.

The announcement sparked frustration among journalists, many of whom complained about poor planning and lack of transparency in the process. The situation quickly escalated, with heated arguments and visible unrest as reporters pushed to gain access.
Police officers were later deployed to the venue to restore order and prevent the situation from getting out of control.
The incident has since stirred reactions, with affected journalists calling on APC organisers to improve coordination and ensure a more transparent accreditation process in future events.
As of the time of reporting, the party had not released any official statement addressing the situation.
