Terrorists have attacked the hometown of Kwara State Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, killing two people and injuring a local security chief known as Olu-Òde in Oro-Ago, Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The attack, which happened on Wednesday evening, has left residents in shock and anger. Many described it as a full-scale invasion and are calling on the deputy governor to urgently step in and protect the community.
According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen arrived in large numbers, firing indiscriminately. They reportedly attempted to overrun a nearby police station before moving into residential areas, breaking into homes and spreading fear.

Videos from the scene show victims lying in pools of blood, while the injured security chief was shot in the arm while trying to defend the community.
Residents said the death toll could have been worse if not for what they described as divine intervention.
One resident, visibly shaken, said, “War has started in Oro-Ago. It was only God that saved me. They are entering houses one by one and killing people. We need help.”
The community has appealed directly to Alabi, accusing him of not doing enough despite the growing insecurity in the area. Some residents even called for external intervention, including from Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Igboho.
The attack has also triggered mass displacement, with several neighbouring communities reportedly deserted. Areas like Ahun, Oke-Oyan, Ago-Olomo, Ajegunle, Omugo, and Oke-Daba have been abandoned as residents flee for safety.
As of now, authorities in Kwara State have not issued an official statement on the incident, and efforts to reach security agencies have been unsuccessful.
The attack comes amid earlier warnings of planned terrorist strikes in parts of Kwara South, including Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin local government areas. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as fears of further attacks continue to grow.
