TERRORISTS ABDUCT SEVEN CONSTRUCTION WORKERS INCLUDING TWO MINISTRY OFFICIALS IN KWARA

Suspected terrorists have reportedly kidnapped seven construction workers in Oba community, located in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A source disclosed that the incident happened when armed attackers invaded a construction site where the workers were carrying out an ongoing project and forcefully took them away. Among those abducted were two employees of the Kwara State Ministry of Works.

According to the source, the assailants struck without warning, overpowered the workers, and led them into a nearby forest, encountering no immediate resistance during the operation.

As of the time of this report, it remains unclear whether the kidnappers have contacted the families of the victims or made any ransom demands. Meanwhile, the Kwara State government and security agencies have yet to release an official statement regarding the abduction.

In a related development, SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Nigerian troops arrested a group of suspected bandits in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The suspects were intercepted while allegedly moving around in a local security patrol vehicle and were found in possession of AK-47 rifles.

During the operation, the men were taken into custody, and a video obtained by SaharaReporters showed them lying face-down on the ground with their hands tied as soldiers interrogated them about their activities and the origin of the weapons.

One of the suspects, speaking in Hausa and Nigerian Pidgin, claimed during questioning that the patrol vehicle and firearms were supplied by the Kwara State government. He alleged that the group had been operating in the area under the pretense of carrying out security patrols.

“We have been here for a long time, using the vehicle for patrol. Wallahi, na truth I dey talk,” the suspect said in the video. “Ilorin government give us this motor and the rifles.”

The suspect further alleged that the weapons were obtained by their superior, whom he referred to as their “oga,” and insisted that several individuals were involved in the arrangement.

“We didn’t collect the rifles ourselves; it was our oga that collected them. I was there when it happened. We have gone on patrol many times with them, including oga Victor. Everyone is involved. The weapons belong to them,” he claimed.

He repeatedly maintained that the rifles did not belong to the group, swearing that the arms were not privately owned. In the footage, other detained suspects could be heard chanting religious phrases as the interrogation continued.
