Terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram have attacked a mosque in Borno, killing the Chief Imam and three other worshipers.
Many people were injured in the attack, which occurred in Ngulde community of Askira-Uba Local Government Area of the state on Friday, September 2, 2023.
According to Headlinenews.news investigative reports, the terrorists numbering 20 launched the attack early by opening fire on worshippers who had finished their Fajir prayers at the Mosque.
It was gathered that the terrorists also looted livestock and foodstuff and set ablaze two vehicles in Ngulde community, which is located at some part of Sambisa forest in the state.
The Councillor representing Ngulde Ward, Bilyaminu, confirmed the event in a statement on Sunday, saying the incident “claimed four (4) lives and left many with casualties, while properties and businesses worth millions of naira were also destroyed and carted away by the insurgents”.
Similarly, Abdullahi Askira, the Deputy Speaker of Borno State, confirmed the incident.
Askira said the terrorists broke into the neighbourhood and inquired about the whereabouts of the chairman of the local hunters/vigilantes, who was said to be their primary target.
He said when the terrorists were dissatisfied with the reaction they got, they went straight to the mosque and shot at congregants.
