The first commercial flight at Gateway International Airport (GWI) in Iperu, Ogun State, actually took off yesterday, October 7, 2025
The inaugural flight, operated by ValueJet, departed from GWI to Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport with 90 passengers on board
The flight marked a significant milestone in Ogun State’s aviation and economic development agenda
Flight Schedule:
– Departure from Iperu: 8:30 a.m. (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
– Arrival in Abuja: 9:45 a.m.
– Return flight from Abuja: 4:00 p.m. (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
– Arrival at GWI: 5:15 p.m.
The Gateway International Airport is expected to boost agricultural exports, attract new investments, and open up the Remo industrial corridor to domestic and international trade.
The airport’s development is a key component of Ogun State’s multi-modal transportation master plan, designed to integrate road, rail, air, and water transport systems.
