The Nigeria Police Force has denied the authenticity of a document circulating online which claims that officers attached to certain individuals have been ordered to immediately return to the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Abuja.
In a statement released on Friday through the Nigeria Police Force’s X handle and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, the memo allegedly signed by one CSP Suleiman Abdullahi and presented as the Admin Officer of the squadron was described as fake and misleading.

The internal memo listed several high-profile individuals, including Atiku Abubakar, Namadi Sambo, Nyesom Wike, Aisha Buhari, Justice Kudirat Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Senator Ahmed Lawal, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, and Hon. Ibrahim Massari, among others.
Hundeyin clarified that no officer by that name works with the 50 PMF Squadron and noted that the position of Admin Officer in any Police Mobile Force squadron is not held by an officer of Chief Superintendent rank. He added that the document was deliberately fabricated to create confusion among the public.

He emphasized that while the Presidential Directive on the withdrawal of police officers from VIP duties has indeed commenced, the process is being implemented gradually and professionally to prevent any security gaps that could be exploited by criminals.
According to the statement, the safety and security of Nigerians remain the top priority, and adequate measures have been put in place to maintain order during the transition.
The directive to withdraw officers attached to VIPs was recently issued by the President in response to rising insecurity across the country.
