THE ROYALS TAKE THEIR NIGERIAN GUESTS TO WINDSOR CASTLE’S GREEN DRAWING ROOM

Tiny manuscript steals the spotlight during royal exhibition tour

The royal party and their Nigerian guests were particularly interested in a tiny manuscript on display.

During their tour in the exhibition of items from the Royal Collection linked to Nigeria, the party took an interest at a tiny manuscript written by Sir Ben Okri, the Nigerian-born British poet, novelist and playwright who was the first black writer to win the Booker Prize.

He penned the manuscript for the new Miniature Library at Windsor Castle – a 2024 initiative championed by Cailla to mark the centenary of Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and its celebrated library.

Camilla said to the Nigerian president: “If you see inside, the writing is so tiny.”

She then told the First Lady: “It goes in the doll’s house.”

The Princess of Wales also said the book is “so beautiful”.

The Royal Family and the president of Nigeria, with his wife, entered Windsor Castle’s Green Drawing Room to view a Royal Collection exhibition.

The collection includes items related to Nigeria, like a photograph of a three-quarter length portrait of Sarah [Sally] Forbes Bonetta, a Yoruba Throne and Foot Cushion and poems by Sir Ben Okri.
