‘This is sad’: Woman Weeps as Bandits Kill her Husband and 15 Others in Oke-Ode, Kwara, Forcing Residents to Flee Town (Video)

A devastating video has surfaced online showing a grieving woman weeping over the body of her husband, one of at least 15 people killed during a bandit attack in Oke-Ode, Kwara State.

The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday, September 28, 2025, plunging the community into fear and forcing many residents to flee for safety amid a growing wave of kidnappings and killings in the area.

The heartbreaking clip captures the woman crying beside her late husband and his friend, both of whom were killed in the assault. In her anguish, she made an emotional plea to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, urging the government to take decisive action against the worsening insecurity that locals say has plagued Oke-Ode for nearly six months.

Eyewitnesses and residents allege that authorities, including the Governor and traditional rulers, have failed to adequately respond to the violence. Some online commentators have gone further, accusing both the Governor and the Emir of neglecting the plight of predominantly Yoruba communities, such as the Igbomina people, who have borne the brunt of the attacks.

As families mourn their loved ones, videos also show large numbers of residents packing up and leaving Oke-Ode in search of refuge elsewhere.

The situation has sparked outrage across social media, with many Nigerians expressing sorrow for the victims while demanding urgent security intervention to protect lives in the troubled town.
