#Those Saying I Endorsed Tinubu Are Illiterate Interlopers – Professor Wole Soyinka


Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, on Thursday, denied throwing his weight behind the presidential ambition of the former Lagos State Governor and national leader of All Progressive Congress (APC) party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing those behind the news as illiterate interlopers.

According to a viral online quote had claimed that the renowned playwright and Professor of emeritus, Wole Soyinka, vowed to campaign for Tinubu, a chieftain of APC, in the forthcoming general election in Nigeria.

Purportedly describing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his friend, the fake statement had quoted Professor Wole Soyinka as saying that although he had never engaged in partisan politics, that he was ready to pull his weight behind Tinubu, to ensure that his ” long time friend in the 1993 NADECO struggle” becomes the next Nigerian President, comes 2023.

However, Professor Soyinka in a statement has denied the viral social media endorsement, stating that, the originator of the said news, were illiterate interlopers.

Meanwhile, recently, the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu made his lifelong intention known to the general public as well as President Muhammadu Buhari, that he will be contesting for presidency comes 2023 general election in Nigeria.
