“Those Involved Should Speak Up; Powerful Christian Lobby Group Has Reportedly Reached Washington — Momodu”

Chief Dele Momodu has dismissed claims that Nigeria’s opposition parties were behind the United States’ decision to designate Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

He argued that opposition parties, still struggling to organize themselves domestically, lack the capacity or resources to influence Washington on such a scale. According to him, those responsible for the move have already come forward — and they are not politicians.

Momodu revealed that he read reports about a bishop from Benue State and later confirmed through reliable contacts that a powerful Christian lobby group from Nigeria reached out to Washington with documents alleging persecution. He said the group, made up of Christian leaders and religious organizations, acted out of frustration with what they described as government failure to protect Christians from systematic attacks.

“In Nigeria, once things go wrong, the ruling party starts looking for who to blame,” Momodu said. “If it’s not the opposition, it’s their predecessors — even the late former President Muhammadu Buhari is being blamed for abandoning a terrible economy to them.”

He urged President Bola Tinubu to focus on finding solutions instead of playing blame games. “This administration that spent years terrorizing the opposition is now being terrorized from America,” he remarked, calling it “divine justice.”

Momodu also noted that many Nigerians, regardless of religion or tribe, are expressing desperation and calling for international intervention in the country’s growing crisis.

“Anyone who believes the opposition is behind this is being myopic,” he said. “I have spoken to credible sources who confirmed that a powerful Christian lobby from Nigeria contacted Washington. Those blaming the opposition are just avoiding reality. This is the time for the president to stop the distractions and focus on real solutions.”
