Security operatives have arrested three individuals suspected to be involved in the February 3 attack on Woro village in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State.

The arrests were confirmed by Ibraheem Abdullateef, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The suspects were apprehended in Kaiama while attempting to buy a motorcycle, following credible intelligence.

“They were intercepted while trying to purchase a motorcycle and are now assisting investigators to rescue abducted victims and restore peace in the affected communities,” Abdullateef said.
The suspects are cooperating with authorities to aid ongoing investigations, facilitate the release of abductees, and strengthen security in the state.

The Woro massacre, one of the deadliest recent attacks in Kwara, reportedly claimed the lives of between 162 and over 200 people. Around 176 residents, including women and children, were abducted during coordinated assaults on Woro and neighbouring Nuku communities. A video that surfaced in mid-February allegedly showed some victims in captivity.

Governor AbdulRazaq condemned the attacks as “cowardly acts” against innocent citizens. Following the incident, President Bola Tinubu deployed military personnel to the area, initiating “Operation Savannah Shield.” Security agencies have intensified surveillance and operations in Kaiama and surrounding areas to apprehend other suspects and secure the release of those still held captive.
