A German national was reportedly stabbed and robbed by motorcycle-riding assailants in Abuja on Saturday morning, raising fresh concerns about rising insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The incident occurred around 8 a.m. along IBB Way, near Maitama Primary School. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was walking along the road when he was attacked by hoodlums on motorcycles.
The attackers allegedly stabbed him before carting away his belongings and fleeing the scene.
Security sources noted that the attack reflects a growing trend in Abuja, where criminals increasingly use motorcycles for swift robberies and quick escapes. The report warned that both foreigners and locals are now potential targets.
An advisory issued alongside the incident urged residents to adopt stricter safety measures, including:
- Avoiding isolated or poorly secured areas.
- Refraining from displaying valuables in public.
- Using secure transportation services where possible.
- Remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious movements to authorities.
“Exercise extreme caution when walking in Abuja. Be aware of your surroundings and follow security advisories. Incidents should be promptly reported to law enforcement,” the alert stated.
The condition of the German victim remains unclear as authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
