Kelechi Iheanacho finished fourth in a poll conducted for Leicester City fans’ footballer of the year for 2021, HEADLINENEWS reports.
Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans was named the top performer at the King Power Stadium this calendar year, beating off competition from Jamie Vardy, Jonny Evans and Iheanacho.
Tielemans, who is seen as the engine room of Brendan Rodgers’ side, received 48 per cent of the votes for City’s Fans’ Footballer of the Year.
Vardy was second with 32 per cent, while Evans placed third with 10 per cent, beating Iheanacho to fourth place by just three more votes.
Tielemans scored the winner in the FA Cup final in May as the Foxes defeated Chelsea 1-0 to lift the prestigious trophy for the first time in their history.
He also scored two goal-of-the-season contenders in back-to-back matches, delicately floating a shot into the top corner against Manchester United, then hammering a bouncing ball into the net at Brentford.
In December, he made his return to Premier League action after a month out with injury and scored twice as his presence helped Leicester City record their biggest win of the season – a 4-0 thumping of Newcastle United.
Iheanacho, who is currently isolated after contracting COVID-19, has scored three goals in 19 games this season.
