# Tinubu Administration Sparks Joy with Set Date for Commencement of Nigerian Passport Automation

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during an inspection of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) facilities in Abuja, revealed plans for an online passport application process, eliminating the need for in-person contact.

“We are set to launch,” he confirmed, expressing confidence in the upcoming January 8 roll-out, promising Nigerians a seamless experience aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision.

Highlighting the reduction of direct human interaction in passport acquisition, the Minister assured a streamlined system. This initiative garnered praise from many Nigerians, showcasing increased hope in the Tinubu administration.

Twitter user Francis Ekpenyong lauded the move, expressing optimism for a brighter 2024. Adedoyin Alimi echoed similar sentiments, hoping for compliance among Nigerians.

Concerns were raised about Nigerians in the diaspora and those with pending applications. Olabode Olajide questioned if the new system would cater to those abroad, while Idris Adekunle urged attention to operational issues at the Festac office in Lagos.

In response to inquiries, Stephen Ikechukwu applauded the Minister’s innovative approach and inquired whether the automation service would extend globally or remain exclusive to applications within Nigeria.
