Tinubu Arrives in Plateau for First Presidential Visit, Pays Tribute to APC Chairman’s Mother(Video)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu landed in Plateau State on Saturday, October 4, 2025, marking his inaugural visit as Nigeria’s leader. Touching down at Yakubu Gowon Airport in Jos, Tinubu was warmly received by a high-powered delegation, including Governor Caleb Muftwang, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, and other key officials.

The visit centers on solemn funeral prayers for Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, the late mother of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Professor Nantewe Yilwatda Goshwe. Following the rites, Tinubu is set to engage with Church Leaders from across Northern Nigeria at the headquarters of the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN) in Jos.

In anticipation of the presidential convoy’s movement, the Plateau State Government announced traffic diversions in Jos and Bukuru metropolis on Friday. Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, emphasized the measures to ensure seamless operations and public safety.

The occasion transcended political divides, with APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters uniting in celebratory displays. Streets in Jos buzzed with joint fanfare, as women groups, youth organizations, and party loyalists donned branded T-shirts and face caps, waving banners with heartfelt messages. The Boys’ Brigade added to the spectacle with a vibrant street march, accompanied by a lively band.

Security was robust at the COCIN Church venue, where attendees were screened using special passes issued in advance, reflecting the event’s significance.

Tinubu’s trip underscores his administration’s emphasis on unity, faith-based engagement, and condolences amid Plateau’s ongoing challenges with security and development.
