President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Abagun Kole Omololu, a senior leader of the Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere, on his 70th birthday, praising him as a man of integrity, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to nation-building.

In a statement on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President highlighted Omololu’s lifelong commitment to preserving Yoruba heritage, promoting democratic ideals, and advancing good governance.
Tinubu noted that Omololu has been a leading figure in Nigeria’s pro-democracy movement for decades and has consistently worked to foster unity and solidarity in Yorubaland. “He was part of NADECO Abroad, which championed the sanctity of June 12 and the end of military rule in Nigeria on the international stage. To this day, Abagun remains a prominent member of Idile Odua,” the President said.

He also commended Omololu’s principled positions on national issues and his steadfast support for the leadership of Afenifere under Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
“As a leader in Afenifere, his principled stance and unwavering support for Baba Fasoranti’s leadership are particularly commendable,” Tinubu remarked.
The President further recognized Omololu’s support for his administration and the Renewed Hope agenda, noting his consistent advocacy for progressive politics and democratic stability.

Tinubu prayed for long life, wisdom, and God’s enduring grace for the Afenifere chieftain as he reaches 70—the Biblical age of three score and ten. Omololu remains a highly respected figure in Yoruba political circles and a key voice in the socio-political mobilisation of Nigeria’s South-West.
