Tinubu Celebrates Kresta Laurel at 35th Anniversary

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Kresta Laurel Limited, a leading indigenous elevator company, on its 35th anniversary, commending its resilience, effective management, and commitment to Nigeria’s market. In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the company’s enterprise and discipline, noting its status as a major player in elevators, escalators, and related technologies.

“Kresta Laurel Limited, headquartered in Lagos with branches in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Kaduna, and a zonal office in Ibadan, is a recipient of the African Order of Merit in Cranes, Escalators, and Elevator Technology,” the statement read.

At the company’s 35th Anniversary Gala and Award Night in Lagos, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, highlighted Kresta Laurel’s role in Nigeria’s growth. “You enable modern architecture to reach the skies and serve as the silent backbone of our urban landscapes,” Edun said. He emphasized the company’s contribution to the economy and urged a focus on future trends like smart cities, IoT, and sustainability.

A Legacy of Excellence

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Founder and Group Chairman of Kresta Laurel and former Ogun State Governor (2003–2011), reflected on the company’s journey since its founding in 1990. Established with a vision to deliver world-class vertical and horizontal transportation systems using African engineering expertise, Kresta Laurel has become a symbol of professionalism and national pride.

“Our mission has been to advance Nigeria’s infrastructure through robust electromechanical systems, including elevators, escalators, cranes, UPS systems, and façade access equipment,” Daniel said. He underscored the company’s future goals, including innovations in renewable energy and tropicalised systems.

Vision for the Future

Managing Director Dideolu Falobi expressed pride in the company’s achievements and optimism about its role in transforming industries. “We envision a future where Nigerian companies like ours are global players, leveraging technology, sustainability, and indigenous expertise,” Falobi said. He highlighted plans to expand into new sectors, pioneer eco-friendly solutions, and train young Nigerian engineers. “A country that does not invest in its engineers will end up importing even its bolts and nuts,” he added.

Founded on August 16, 1984, and commencing operations in January 1990, Kresta Laurel has grown into a multi-billion-naira enterprise. The anniversary celebration showcased its contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructure and industrial development.
