President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former First Lady Hajiya Aisha Buhari on her 55th birthday, describing her as a courageous, principled, and steadfast woman who has remained true to her values throughout her public life.

In a personally signed message released on Monday, February 23, 2026, the President joined family, friends, and well-wishers in celebrating the milestone, noting that 55 represents a significant chapter in her journey.
“I join the family and friends of Hajiya Aisha Buhari to congratulate her on her 55th birthday. Fifty-five is a significant milestone, and I celebrate with the former First Lady on this occasion,” Tinubu stated.

He praised her strength of character and independence of mind, portraying her as an unwavering figure in Nigeria’s public sphere.
“Hajiya Buhari is an Amazon, a courageous and principled woman. She is not afraid to stand alone on matters bordering on her values and ideals. She is as ever certain as the North Star; a woman for all seasons,” the President said.

Tinubu also commended her humanitarian work and advocacy, particularly through the Aisha Buhari Foundation, which has focused on upholding the rights of women and children and providing support to vulnerable families nationwide.

“Through her foundation, the Aisha Buhari Foundation, she has upheld the rights of women and children and provided succour to many families,” he noted.
He further described her as “a voice for the unheard and the forgotten,” highlighting her consistent championing of family values, human dignity, and social justice.

Expressing appreciation for her contributions to national development, Tinubu thanked Mrs Buhari for her service to the country and praised her resilience and discipline over the years.

Hajiya Aisha Buhari served as Nigeria’s First Lady from 2015 to 2023 and has remained actively involved in humanitarian initiatives, women’s empowerment, and advocacy for vulnerable groups since leaving office.
