Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” saying it is reversing Nigeria’s economic challenges and making the country prosperous again.
Speaking during a meeting of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) in Birnin Kebbi, Uzodinma highlighted that the difficult economic conditions inherited in 2023 required bold and sometimes painful decisions, which are now yielding positive results.

“We are here to share good news and thank Nigerians for their patience. In 2023, President Tinubu inherited a Nigeria that was almost drowning. He identified the cancer holding the country hostage and took decisive steps—removing fuel subsidy, unifying exchange rates, and implementing fiscal reforms—that are gradually making Nigeria rich again,” Uzodinma said.

He acknowledged that the reforms initially caused hardships, including rising living costs, but emphasized that the efforts are now bearing fruit. “It was like a woman in labour; today, the cries have given way to jubilation,” he said.
Uzodinma also announced a massive economic empowerment program under the APC government that will directly impact hundreds of lives in each of the nation’s 774 local government areas. “The aim is to create at least 1,000 active businesses in every ward across Nigeria within the next six to twelve months, benefiting entrepreneurs of all trades—from barbers to IT specialists,” he explained.

The governor reaffirmed the APC’s dominance in Nigerian politics, noting that political figures from other parties are joining the APC due to confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership. “There is only one political party in Nigeria today—the APC. The defections of senators, governors, and legislators underscore the results of President Tinubu’s policies and the country’s renewed economic direction,” he said.

At the end of the two-day PGF meeting held between October 16 and 17, governors collectively reaffirmed support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a framework for cooperative federalism and inclusive development.
The forum lauded the government for achievements in fiscal reforms, food security, power sector stabilization, infrastructural development, and social intervention programs.

It also highlighted improvements in revenue generation across all levels of government and the National Economic Council’s initiatives to create opportunities for Nigerians in all 8,809 electoral wards.
“The Progressive Governors’ Forum commends President Tinubu’s foresight and pledges continued support for the policies and programs under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the communiqué read.
