The Oyo State leader of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Teslim Folarin, has clarified that the new tax laws are not intended to create additional burdens for Nigerians.
He urged citizens to stay calm, stay informed, and support the tax reforms recently introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during the continuation of his 14 Federal Constituency tour across the Irepo/Olorunsogo/Orelope and Atisbo/Saki West/Saki East constituencies, Folarin described the new tax measures as vital steps to boost Nigeria’s revenue and promote sustainable national development.
According to him, the reforms aim to enhance efficiency, prevent revenue leakages, and reduce Nigeria’s long-standing reliance on oil revenue. He noted that the country’s tax-to-GDP ratio remains one of the lowest worldwide, limiting the government’s ability to adequately fund critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security without excessive borrowing.

Folarin emphasized that the reforms focus on widening the tax base rather than raising tax rates for everyone. He assured that low-income earners remain protected through existing thresholds and statutory exemptions, while the responsibility for higher taxes will largely fall on higher-income earners, large corporations, and sectors with poor compliance records.
Beyond the tax discussion, Folarin conveyed President Tinubu’s gratitude to party members and the people of Oyo State for their support during the 2023 presidential election. He also revealed that the Oyo State chapter of the APC aims to improve its electoral performance by at least 35 percent ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Calling for continued public support, Folarin noted that institutional reforms are taking hold, the economy is stabilizing, and confidence in governance is steadily being restored.

Several APC leaders also spoke during the tour, including Senators Abdulfatai Buhari, Sharafadeen Alli, Ayo Adeseun, Hosea Agboola, and Pharm. Olayide Abass, who urged party members to uphold discipline and strengthen internal unity.
Other prominent attendees included former deputy governors Chief Iyiola Oladokun, Chief Moses Alake, and Engr. Rauf Olaniyan; as well as Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Engr. Idris Adeoye, Mrs. Hanna Ogunesan, Prof. Adeolu Akande, Hon. Tajudeen Kareem, Hon. Olaide Muhammedah, Hon. Olamiju Alao-Akala, Hon. Remi Oseni, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, Rt. Hon. Muraina Ajibola, Hon. Bolaji Repete, Hon. Akeem Akogun, and Hon. Bosun Oladele.

The leaders stressed that the success of the APC in the 2027 elections will depend on unity, cooperation, and collective effort rather than internal conflicts, urging all members to remain disciplined and committed to the party’s goals.
