On October 17, 2025, Prince Victor Adekunle Alonge, President of the Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors & Valuers (NIESV), praised President Bola Tinubu’s tax reforms for their potential to enhance productivity in the real estate sector and increase its contribution to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Speaking after receiving the chieftaincy title of Awokose Omoluabi Oodua from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Alonge noted that Nigeria’s real estate sector has one of the lowest GDP contributions in Africa despite its vast potential.
He urged governments at all levels to engage professionals to drive economic growth, emphasizing that sustainable policies and collaboration with surveyors and valuers could revitalize the sector.
Alonge acknowledged that some reforms may initially challenge citizens but stressed their long-term benefits for national development. He thanked the Ooni and his colleagues for their support, pledging to leverage his new role to further contribute to the sector’s growth.
