TODAY FRIDAY JUMMAT 30th of Al-Muharram 1447AH (25 JULY 2025)

Book of Divorce (at-Talaq)

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) performed the Tawaf (around the Ka`ba while riding his camel, and every time he reached the corner (of the Black Stone) he pointed at it with his hand and said, “Allahu Akbar.” (Zainab said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “An opening has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog like this and this,” forming the number 90 (with his thumb and index finger).”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5293

NOTE 📝

1. Imam al-Bukhari collected this hadith under the chapter heading “The regulations concerning the property and family of a lost person.” Shaykh Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen explained while commenting on this hadith that this passage explains how gestures (الإشارة) can serve in place of spoken words in certain situations, including divorce and other rulings. He clarified that الإشارة here means using the hand, head, or eyes, not advice or consultation, and discussed how it can stand in for verbal speech in Shari‘ah contexts. For example, the Prophet ﷺ pointed to his tongue to clarify that Allah does not punish for tears but for what the tongue says, showing how a gesture can replace explicit words. – Sharh Kitab at-Talaq, Sahih al-Bukhari,Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen

2. The also stated that examples show how the Prophet ﷺ used gestures practically. E.g. Ka‘b ibn Malik said the Prophet ﷺ gestured to him to take half; Asma’ described how ‘A’ishah gestured with her head during prayer to explain the solar eclipse; and Anas narrated that the Prophet ﷺ gestured to Abu Bakr to lead the prayer. These cases show that gestures carried clear meaning and could communicate effectively without breaking other rulings, like maintaining the validity of prayer when words are not spoken. – Sharh Kitab at-Talaq, Sahih al-Bukhari,Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen

3. Finally, the Shaykh explained further instances, like Ibn ‘Abbas’s report that the Prophet ﷺ gestured that something was not harmful, and Abu Qatadah’s narration where the Prophet ﷺ clarified that merely gesturing at game did not make it unlawful for a pilgrim. These examples show that gestures can clarify, direct, and even permit actions without needing speech, highlighting how Islamic rulings accommodate practical communication when words may not be possible or appropriate. – Sharh Kitab at-Talaq, Sahih al-Bukhari,Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen

💫 Please note that there was no reported positive sighting of the hilaal of Safar 1447AH and hence, today is 30th Muharram 1447AH (25th July, 2025) and tomorrow will be 1st of Safar 1447AH✨

O Allah, bless our marriages, place love and mercy between us, reconcile our hearts, and protect us from Shaytan, misunderstandings, divisions, and acrimonious situations … Ãmeen.

A spiritually uplifting prayer for 30th Al-Muharram Jummu’ah, in both English and Arabic, focusing on gratitude, renewal, protection, and purpose — fitting for the closing of the first sacred month in the Islamic calendar.

30th Al-Muharram Jummu’ah Prayer (English & Arabic)

English:

O Allah, Lord of the Worlds, the Turner of hearts, the Knower of the unseen,
On this blessed Jummu’ah and the final day of Al-Muharram, we raise our hands to You with gratitude and hope.

Ya Rabb, thank You for allowing us to witness the beginning of another Hijri year. Cleanse our hearts from pride, envy, and heedlessness. Grant us sincerity in our intentions, barakah in our time, and light in our hearts.

Protect us from harm — physical, spiritual, and emotional. Forgive our past sins and guide our steps forward with clarity.

O Allah, bless our families, strengthen our Iman, and allow us to live this year with purpose, faith, and good deeds.

Replace our fears with tawakkul, our hardships with ease, and our silence with dhikr.

Ya Allah, do not let this sacred month end without writing us among those You have chosen for Your mercy, Your forgiveness, and Your nearness.

Ameen.
