Some of the country’s top golfers will gather at the Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section for the 64th FirstBank Lagos Open, which begins on Monday with the caddies’ event. The Championship kitty follows on Wednesday, while the Corporate Golf Challenge for Charity takes place on Thursday.

The main competition will run from Friday to Sunday, culminating in the crowning of a new champion. FirstBank of Nigeria Limited, the tournament’s sponsor, has increased its support for the event, offering N34.5 million in cash and other prizes for this year’s edition.

FirstBank Group CEO Olusegun Alebiosu, represented by Ayokunle Ojo, Head of Treasury Sales and Derivatives Marketing, said the boosted prize pool is aimed at elevating the tournament and supporting the growth of professional golf in the region. He noted that the pro-am prize money has been raised from N5 million to N34.5 million, with the winner set to receive N10 million for a single day of play — the highest payout for a golf event in Nigeria.

Ojo reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to promoting the sport, saying the tournament serves not only as a competitive platform but also as a celebration of character and community.
Acting Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Olayinka Ijabiyi, described the championship as a tradition built on dedication, focus, and sportsmanship.
