At least three members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of Benue State have lost their lives in a road accident while travelling to attend the party’s zonal congress in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, along the Makurdi–Lafia expressway. Several other party members who were involved in the crash sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital.
The APC State Organising Secretary, James Ornguga, confirmed the incident, noting that the victims were all from the same local government area.
Reacting to the development, the Senator representing Benue South and Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, described the accident as deeply painful and devastating, especially due to the loss of multiple lives from a single community.
He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as to the people of Ogbadigbo, praying for strength and comfort for those affected by the tragedy.
The incident adds to the growing concerns over frequent road accidents across Nigeria, which continue to claim lives and leave many injured. While some stakeholders attribute the trend to poor driver training, others blame weak enforcement of road safety regulations.
