TRAGEDY: SENATOR PETER NWAOBOSHI IS DEAD.

Former Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi has passed away.

Naija News learnt that the former lawmaker died in the early hours of Friday. The sad development was officially confirmed by the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori.

In a condolence message, Governor Oborevwori described Nwaoboshi’s death as a major setback not only for Delta State but also for the Anioma people and the nation as a whole.

The message, released through the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, praised the late senator as a distinguished son of Delta State and a fearless advocate of the Anioma struggle. The governor noted that Nwaoboshi’s legacy of service and commitment to national development would not be forgotten.

 

Reflecting on his time in the National Assembly, Oborevwori recalled Nwaoboshi’s tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, highlighting his strong advocacy for the growth and development of the Niger Delta region and Delta State in particular.

The governor further noted that the late senator’s rise in politics was built on experience, dedication, and loyalty to democratic principles. He also acknowledged Nwaoboshi’s service as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, where he played a key role in strengthening the party.

 

Oborevwori said, “On behalf of the Delta State Government and its people, I deeply mourn the loss of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi.

“My sincere condolences go to his family, the Anioma nation, members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and everyone affected by his passing. I pray that God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss.”
