The Lagos State Civil Service has been thrown into mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Mrs. Serifat Olubukola Talabi, the Director of Procurement at the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).
Mrs. Talabi lost her life in a ghastly auto accident on Saturday, October 18, 2025 — just four days before her long-anticipated retirement and 60th birthday celebration.
According to reports, the incident occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp in Ibafo, Ogun State. She was reportedly attempting to cross the highway when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The news of her passing has left colleagues, friends, and family members in deep shock and sorrow. Described as a dedicated and cheerful public servant, Mrs. Talabi had served Lagos State with distinction and was eagerly looking forward to marking both her retirement and her milestone birthday with a thanksgiving ceremony.
Preparations for the event had been in full swing, with invitations already distributed for the celebration slated for Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The event was to be held at the NERDC Conference Centre on NERDC Road, adjacent to the Fela Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos.
Her untimely death has cast a dark cloud over what was meant to be a season of joy and gratitude, leaving many in the civil service and beyond mourning the loss of a woman remembered for her professionalism, kindness, and commitment to duty.
