Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Ali Adamu, during an intensified operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State on October 29, 2025.

According to a statement by Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the troops received a distress call after Adamu was abducted while sleeping outside his home. Soldiers swiftly mobilised and pursued the kidnappers. On realising the troops were closing in, the abductors abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes. Adamu was safely reunited with his family without ransom.

Meanwhile, local vigilantes and hunters in Maraban Kunini apprehended a 30-year-old suspect, Mr. Lalau Adamu, allegedly involved in the abduction. The suspect, injured by a mob before the troops’ arrival, was taken under military protection to a medical facility for treatment as investigations continue.

Commander 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the swift coordination among security forces and local groups, urging residents to keep providing credible information to aid peace efforts.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding citizens and sustaining operations to eliminate criminal elements in Taraba State and its environs.
