Amos Daniel, a member of the House of Representatives representing Jemaa/Sanga Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced the defection after reading Daniel’s letter on the floor of the chamber.
In his letter, Daniel cited the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP as the reason for his decision to join the ruling APC.

His defection further reduces the number of PDP lawmakers in the National Assembly, deepening the party’s internal crisis. The opposition party has been battling persistent internal conflicts, leading to a series of defections to the APC.
In a related development, Sagiri Koki, representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has also resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

In a letter dated November 11 and addressed to the chairman of Zaitawa Ward in Kano State, Koki announced his resignation, citing the lingering leadership crisis within the party as the reason. He said the situation has made it difficult to effectively represent the people of Kano Municipal in the House of Representatives.
Koki’s defection has not yet been formally announced on the floor of the lower legislative chamber.

Some critics have condemned the wave of defections by opposition members to the ruling APC, warning that the trend could push the country toward a one-party state. The APC, however, dismissed the claims, urging opposition parties to resolve their internal issues instead of making unfounded accusations.
