Two men have been handed significant prison sentences at the Inner London Crown Court following the brutal assault of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in South London.
Raji (29): Sentenced to 11 years for two counts of rape and one count of filming the assault.
Akinsanya (34): Sentenced to 10 years for rape.
The Incident
The court heard that the pair targeted the victim at a pub in Brixton, plying her with alcohol before inviting her and her friends back to a flat under the guise of listening to music. While her friends felt uneasy and left, the victim became incapacitated. The defendants then took advantage of her unconscious state, with Raji filming the ordeal on his phone.
Impact on the Victim
In a moving victim impact statement, the teenager—who was in Year 10 at the time—shared how the attack has derailed her life:
Education: She struggled to attend lessons and feels her school life remains permanently affected.
Loss of Passion: She stopped playing football, the only sport she enjoyed, due to a total collapse in self-confidence.
Psychological Trauma: She described feeling unable to trust others and found the evidence so “stressful” she could not finish watching the footage of the attack.

Judicial Findings
Despite the defense’s claims that the men believed the girls were over 18, Judge David Richards was firm in his assessment. He noted that the behavior of the group was clearly that of “schoolgirls” and that the defendants intentionally used alcohol to render the victim vulnerable.
The judge emphasized that the victim will likely carry the weight of this trauma for the rest of her life, noting that the “prolonged ordeal” and the fact that both men abused her sequentially significantly aggravated the crimes.
