The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government to decisively target terrorists and their financiers ahead of any potential United States military intervention in Nigeria.

Adeboye made the appeal on Friday during the November Holy Ghost Service, responding to recent threats from US President Donald Trump. He urged President Bola Tinubu to give the newly appointed service chiefs a three-month ultimatum to eliminate insurgents and their sponsors, warning that failure to do so should lead to their resignation.
“This is not the time for blaming anyone. The President inherited this problem; it predates his administration,” Adeboye said.
He recalled advising the late President Muhammadu Buhari privately to take decisive action when nationwide killings escalated but noted that the counsel was not fully implemented. Adeboye explained, “I once advised the service chiefs to act within three months against Boko Haram, but the work was not completed. Now, the message is clear: our leaders must target not only terrorists but also their sponsors, regardless of influence.”

Adeboye cautioned that in the event of a US attack, countries such as China, Russia, and other global powers would not intervene militarily. “All world leaders may condemn America’s actions, but none will come to our aid,” he said.
He stressed the urgency of swift and diplomatic action, highlighting that the situation is not about religion or semantics, but about protecting innocent lives.
The cleric also suggested that President Tinubu negotiate a 100-day window with Trump to address the insurgency. Within that period, he recommended that service chiefs and security agencies be mandated to resolve the crisis in 90 days or step down.

The remarks follow Trump’s recent post on Truth Social, in which he described Christianity in Nigeria as facing an “existential threat” from radical Islamist groups. He pledged US readiness to protect Christians worldwide and called on Congress to investigate the situation, directing reports from key lawmakers.
Adeboye’s intervention underscores growing concern over security challenges in Nigeria and the need for decisive, accountable leadership to protect citizens from terrorist activities.
