Dr. Abraham Hollist, a US-based Nigerian doctor and CEO of Optimal Health, USA, has called on the National and State Assemblies to strengthen legislation on alternative medicine in Nigeria.
Speaking at a three-day health awareness outreach in Surulere, Lagos, organized by Optimal Health and Peacemakers Community Development Foundation on October 16, 2025, Hollist emphasized that robust laws would attract more practitioners, reduce healthcare costs, and improve access to quality care, potentially preventing numerous deaths.
A Howard University graduate, Hollist shared that his personal experiences, including the loss of a childhood friend to sickle cell disease and his son’s diagnosis with the same condition, inspired him to found Optimal Health. His research into natural management of ailments, followed by his son’s successful bone marrow transplant, fueled the initiative. The outreach in Surulere, his birthplace, reflects his commitment to giving back to the community through alternative medicine advocacy.
