The session, set for Tuesday, December 2, will involve members of the Appropriations, Foreign Affairs and Financial Services Committees. It will be led by Mario Díaz-Balart, the committee’s vice chair and head of the National Security Subcommittee.

In a post on X, US Representative Riley Moore said the meeting will deepen ongoing efforts to understand violence faced by Christian communities in Nigeria. “We will never turn a blind eye to our brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer for their faith,” he wrote.

According to an official notice, the briefing will feature input from the US Commission on International Religious Freedom and other experts, who will outline documented attacks and offer recommendations to protect at-risk groups.

The committee said the goal is to gather “critical testimony” to shape future congressional action as concerns grow over insecurity and religiously motivated violence in Nigeria.

The Nigerian government has consistently denied claims of targeted killings of Christians.Headline news
