The United States has announced its 2025 Visa Waiver Program (VWP) list, which allows citizens of eligible countries to travel to the U.S. for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days.
The UK was notably excluded from the list but remains eligible under specific conditions. Additionally, no African country, including Nigeria, Ghana, or South Africa, was included in the program.
Key Updates in the 2025 VWP
- Romania has been newly added, reflecting growing diplomatic ties.
- Enhanced security checks are now a priority for participating countries.
- Countries must meet strict border security and diplomatic standards to qualify.
According to the US Bureau of Consular Affairs, travelers from VWP countries must obtain a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before departure. Those preferring a visa may still apply for one.
