The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a renewed advisory warning Nigerian travelers against overstaying visas, stating that such violations could negatively impact visa access for other responsible Nigerian applicants.
In a statement shared on social media, the U.S. Mission emphasized that compliance with visa rules is essential to preserving opportunities for education, business, and family visits for all Nigerians.
“Visa overstays by Nigerian travelers can affect opportunities for their fellow citizens,” the mission stated.
It explained that adherence to visa terms helps sustain trust in the U.S. visa system and protects legitimate travelers from facing stricter scrutiny or reduced approval rates.
“Strengthening compliance helps protect access for students, business travelers, and families who travel responsibly,” the advisory added.
