Former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged ex-President Goodluck Jonathan not to succumb to mounting pressure to contest in the 2027 presidential election, warning that doing so could damage his reputation and hard-earned legacy.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole remarked that “only Jonathan’s enemies” would encourage him to re-enter the race.
He emphasized that Jonathan had already made history as a former president and should preserve his statesman status rather than return to partisan politics.
According to Oshiomhole, if Jonathan decides to contest in 2027, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would undoubtedly defeat him at the polls.
Jonathan, who ran as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2015, was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
