The Taminu Turaki–led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the judgment of a Federal High Court in Ibadan, which nullified the party’s National Convention held on November 15, 2025.
The court had ruled that the convention conducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, was invalid and restrained members of the Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from parading themselves as national officers of the party. It further recognised the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the legitimate leadership of the PDP pending the conduct of a valid national convention.

In response, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said the party would immediately challenge the ruling at the appellate court, stressing that there was no cause for concern among party members.
According to him, the court declined to grant the order of mandamus sought, on the grounds that doing so would amount to sitting on appeal over decisions of courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

“We have briefed our lawyers to promptly file an appeal and take all necessary legal steps to vigorously protect our position,” Ememobong said.
He maintained that despite the judgment, the Kabiru Turaki–led PDP that emerged from the Ibadan convention remains legally intact and unfazed, pending a definitive ruling by higher courts.

Ememobong urged party members to remain calm, resolute, and committed, assuring them that the party’s “REBIRTH movement” remains firmly on track.
The development adds another layer to the PDP’s ongoing internal crisis, raising questions about the party’s ability to overcome its leadership tussles ahead of the 2027 general elections.
