In every nation’s journey toward greatness, moments of hardship are inevitable. Yet, in the face of disappointment, stress, or dissatisfaction with national conditions, Nigerians must remember that the country is greater than any individual challenge or temporary setback.
Patriotism is the sentiment that must guide our expressions, both at home and abroad. To disparage our nation publicly—especially on global platforms—is not only counterproductive but also undermines the collective effort to improve our national image and attract global goodwill. Criticism must be constructive, not destructive.
As Dr. G. Fraser, MFR of the National Patriots, cautions:
“A patriot corrects, not condemns. When we wash our national linen in global marketplaces of opinion, we stain the fabric of our own future. Nigeria’s destiny will be shaped not only by our leaders but by how we speak of her in times of trial.”
This call to conscience is not a denial of reality, but a challenge to channel frustrations into solutions—and to uphold the dignity of our shared identity as Nigerians.
